Readerware 2.76 changes

Some of the highlights in this release.

Fixed the false unsaved changes prompt when updating user defined fields. This was introduced in Readerware 2.75 and generated quite a bit of e-mail. Sorry about that.

Mac OS X users will want to upgrade. This version includes new Mac OS X file dialogs.

Fixed a problem with the CS-1504 scanner upload, it would sometimes terminate early. Readerware now displays the number of barcodes uploaded from portable barcode readers.

For those of you having problems with light text on standard reports, this is fixed. You can now actually read what you print!

A couple of important bug fixes in this release, so it is recommended that all users upgrade.

Upgrade Policy

Most of you know this by now but Readerware 2.76 is a free upgrade. All 2.x upgrades are free. I haven't been spelling this out in the newsletter and every issue I get few e-mails asking how much the upgrade will cost.

You can always download the latest 2.x release for free. If you ever want the latest version on CD, you can order it from the web site for $12.

Froogle

Froogle Beta
Froogle was recently introduced in beta form by Google. So what is Froogle?

Froogle is a new service from Google that makes it easy to find information about products for sale online. By focusing entirely on product search, Froogle applies the power of Google's search technology to a very specific task: locating stores that sell the item you want to find and pointing you directly to the place where you can make a purchase.

What sets Froogle apart from other shopping services is that for now at least, there is no charge to merchants for listing products. You can simply let Google crawl your web site. But you can also submit a data feed to Froogle ensuring that your entire product catalog is listed online. The data feed is a tab delimited file. What is the easiest way to create a tab delimited file containing your complete inventory? Readerware can easily create that file for you.
